An Osprey flew west at 12.25 and the Wryneck was again showing on the NWT reserve during the day. At Thornham Harbour 14 Common Sandpipers and a Green Sandpiper were seen. Seabirds included a Common Scoter, Fulmar, Great Crested Grebe, 20 Little Terns and 20 Sandwich Terns. A Water Rail was heard along the Broadwater and 6 Whimbrel, 80 Curlew and 280+ Black-tailed Godwits were also noted. Also of interest today was a juvenile Merlin at the west end of the grazing marsh and 4 Crossbills flying west over the village.
An Emperor Dragonfly was flying along the east bank mid afternoon and Small Copper, Brown Argus and Small Heath were also noted. A Humming-bird Hawk Moth was on the buddleia briefly and in the traps 12 Silver Ys, 35 Large Yellow Underwings, 13 Archer's Darts, 16 Setaceous Hebrew Characters, 33 Flounced Rustics, a Green Carpet, 2 Brimstones, 2 Broad Bordered Yellow Underwings, 2 Cabbages, 5 Flame Shoulders, 6 Turnips, 3 Square-spot Rustics, 6 White-line Darts, a Six-striped Rustic, 2 Ferns, a Double-striped Pug, Swallow Prominent, Canary-shouldered Thorn, Light Emerald, 2 Dark Sword-grass, 2 Small Square-spots, a Spectacle, 3 Vine's Rustics, 3 White Points, an Angle Shades, Chinese Character, a Lychnis and 2 Straw Underwings were caught.
