ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Sunday 27th September 2015

Another good day of visual migration including a Water Rail, Spotted Redshank, 2 Greenshank, 6 Snipe, a single Swallow, a Cetti's Warbler (ringed), 2 Yellow-browed Warblers, one in the NWT car park and another near the pay hut, 3 Chiffchaffs, a Whitethroat, 3 Redwings, 6 Mistle Thrushes, 2 Stonechats, 2 Grey Wagtails, 55+ Redpolls, and 6 Siskins. On the sea 3 Red-throated Divers, 5 Gannets, and 20 Common Scoters were seen. A Balearic Shearwater also flew east past the NWT. A Humming-bird Hawk Moth was at the buddleia on and off all day.
