ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Monday 5th October 2015

A brisk south easterly with low cloud and rain brought down fewer birds than expected but a notable movement of Redwings and Song Thrushes took place with 350+ Redwings and 35 Song Thrushes recorded during the day. A Red Kite was drifting east over Thornham Harbour and a Balearic Shearwater passed close in east. Also of note were at least 2 Yellow-browed Warblers, a Firecrest in the pines, 4 Rock Pipits, a Peregrine, a Cetti's Warbler, and 2 Spotted Redshanks in Thornham Harbour.
