ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Wednesday 14th October 2015

The highlight today was the impressive number of Goldcrests again present around the obs, with over two hundred trapped and ringed. At least two thousand Starlings were present along the east bank and other birds of note included at least two Short-eared Owls in off the sea, with one of these seen in the same binocular view as two Gannets which were over the broadwater ! Sea watching produced eight Bonxies and two Arctic Skuas.
