ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Thursday 12th May 2016

A pleasant day with light north east winds, highlights were 2 Common Sandpipers, a Greenshank, 4 Little Terns, 4 Sandwich Terns and 2 Common Terns. Turtle Dove and Cuckoo were both noted and a Short-eared Owl was still present. Warblers included 4 Cetti's, 2 Willow Warblers, 4 Blackcaps, 2 Lesser Whitethroats, 10 Whitethroats, 10 Sedge Warblers and 6 Reed Warblers.
In the moth traps a Frosted Green was noted together with a Pebble Prominent, 4 Green Carpets, 2 Cinnabars and a Poplar Hawk Moth.
