With winds swinging into the south and rain out in the north sea overnight, migration was brought to a temporary halt today with numbers of new birds arriving being suddenly a bit subdued! There was plenty to see, but ringing was reduced with 55 new birds, still mainly Robins and Goldcrests. At least 10 Bearded Tits were around the Broadwater, a single Swallow was still present, a Cetti's Warbler, 2 Chiffchaffs, 4 Blackcaps including the bird ringed in the Netherlands caught here on the 8th, (now weighing a massive 21.8g), a Ring Ouzel was still at the west end of the pines, 30 Blackbirds, 11 Fieldfares, 6 Song Thrushes, 38 Redwings, a Stonechat, 3 Rock Pipits, 4 Bramblings, 12 Siskins and 16 Reed Buntings were all counted, with 3 Lapland Buntings on the beach east of the Golf Course early morning.
