With virtually no wind today a large movement of thrushes, primarily Fieldfare was a surprise, with in excess of 2,000 counted through the first hour or two of daylight with smaller numbers of Redwing, totalling several hundred, seen as well. Two Crossbills were around the pines near the Observatory during the morning, a Lapland Bunting flew over calling and ringing activities produced a rather smart male Stonechat. The Twite numbers have now increased to 22 in Thornham Harbour and a Woodlark was recorded flying east over the western end of the reserve approach road.
