Strong winds from the north west dominated today's bird activity, with seawatching producing a drake Eider, 4 Long-tailed Ducks, 600 Common and 1 Velvet Scoter, 3 Red-breasted Mergansers, 5 Red-throated Divers, 1 Great Northern Diver, 6 Fulmars, 3 Sooty Shearwaters, 158 Gannets, 6 Great Crested Grebes, a Slavonian Grebe, 6 Arctic Skuas, 31 Great Skuas, 1 Little Auk, 1 Arctic Tern, 15 Kittiwakes and 5 Little Gulls. Also noted were a Short-eared Owl in off the sea and many Woodcock arriving, with at least 7 recorded either coming in or being flushed from various locations. A Jack Snipe was feeding in front of the second of the village hides, showing well at times. Waxwings continued to feed around the west end of Broadwater Road with 80+ birds recorded during the day.
