ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE
REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.
Saturday 18th February 2017
Seawatching was the focus of interest again today with 3 Scaup, 2 Eider, 310 Long-tailed Ducks, 48 Common Scoters, 9 Velvet Scoters, a Goldeneye, 15 Red-breasted Mergansers, one Black-throated and one Great Northern Diver, 2 Fulmars, 7 Great Crested Grebes, a Guillemot and a Great Skua all recorded during the day. Also of interest were 300 Golden Plovers, 550 Lapwings, a single Siskin over calling, 50 Snow Buntings on the beach and along the river Hun near Redwell Marsh 2 Chiffchaffs were catching insects along the hedge line.
