ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Tuesday 14th February 2017

Birds on the sea today included at least 150 Long-tailed Ducks largely concentrated around Thornham and presumably birds displaced from Titchwell by the falling tide. Other birds on the sea of note included three Great Northern Divers, Two Red-necked and one Slavonian Grebe. The Snow Bunting flock had increased to around 60 birds by midday feeding on the beach just east of Gore Point. The Lesser Whitethroat was again in sea buckthorn North of Beach Road and other of note  birds seen during the day included a Peregrine, two Stonechats, Bearded Tit and a Greenshank in Thornham Harbour.
