ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

The highlight today was undoubtedly the flock of seven Common Cranes that flew high West over the grazing marsh late morning. A young Merlin perched on the east bank fence line caused some concern to the local Meadow Pipits and a ringtail Hen harrier was seen over the approach road. There was plenty of large raptor action locally, with at least six Marsh Harriers, four Common Buzzards and two Red Kites seen. Two hundred Brent Geese and fifteen Pink-feet were on the grazing marsh and an adult Gannet was seen offshore.
