ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Friday 6th Friday 2020

On the sea today 4 drake Eiders, a female Red-breasted Merganser flew east and 4 Great Crested Grebes were of note. A Red Kite drifted over west, 2 Water Rails were heard and 110 Black-tailed Godwits, 60 Golden Plover and 400 Lapwings were on the grazing marshes. A total of 12 Stonechats were in the area of the sea wall between Holme and Thornham. A Barn Owl was hunting at the east end of the village and at least 2 Cetti's Warblers were also seen.

Four Dotted Borders were in and around the moth traps and three newts were in the pond.
