A day of strong winds and thundery showers, birdlife was keeping its head down today. A Spoonbill flew east over the grazing marsh and 5 Little Egrets were counted, with a Little Grebe on the Broadwater and the mysterious appearance of 40 Canada Geese! Two Common Terns and a Little Tern flew along the Broadwater and Barn Owl, 4 Swifts, a Cetti's Warbler, 2 Chiffchaffs, 4 Whitethroats, 2 Sedge Warblers and a Stonechat were all of interest around the reserve.
Moths were few and far between, with 2 Cinnabars, Mottled Rustic, Common Wainscot, Marbled Minor sp and Anerastia lotella the only moths caught.
Storm clouds passing along the ridge, behind the scorched east bank!
