Holme Bird Observatory Thursday 17th September 2020

With wind still blowing from the Northeast we again started the day full of expectation. We weren't disappointed with a Red-breasted Flycatcher appearing on site and quickly finding its way into a mist net. A Pectoral Sandpiper was found on the NWT reserve, though only showing to a fortunate few. Two Redstarts, four Wheatears and at least three Pied flycatchers were also seen during the day. Other birds of note including Spotted Redshank, Greenshank, Brambling, Hobby, Peregrine and Arctic Skua(2). The moth trap highlight was a rather smart Black Rustic.
