Holme Bird Observatory Wednesday 8th December 2021

With somewhat inclement conditions the sea was the main source of focus first thing, with an increase in Great Northern Diver numbers the most surprising discovery. At least 13 birds were noted with three at one stage on the sea close inshore together. Two Slavonian Grebes were in the company of eight Eider, again just offshore plus a single Red-necked Grebe, and three Long-tailed Duck  flew past west. A Siberian type Chiffchaff was found in the scrub near the pines but unfortunately not heard to call and a drake Goosander flew west along the Broadwater.
