REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Wednesday 30th March 2022

At least two Brambling were with the Goldfinches again today and an overflying calling Bullfinch was an unusual record. An half hour seawatch proved challenging with a patchy mist over the sea, worthwhile though with a Great Northern Diver, 42 Eider, and 28 Great Crested Grebes recorded, plus the Scoter flock of around 2000 birds sat distantly on the sea. The moth traps produced 5 Small Quaker, 4 Shoulder Stripe, and 3 each of Clouded Drab, Hebrew Character and Red Chestnut.
