REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Monday 11th April 2022

Strong south easterly wind prevented the nets from being opened and very few new migrants arrived. Highlights were a Brambling heard flying over, one Sand Martin east and 12 Sandwich Tern east on the sea.

Only 3 moths in the traps this morning; Striped Shoulder, Red Chestnut and Red-green Carpet. A male Emperor Moth was seen sheltering from the wind on the ramp railing.
