ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Wednesday 13th April 2022

Another day of spring passage, with an Osprey west over the pines at 14.52, 2 Whimbrel, a Black-tailed Godwit, Green Sandpiper and Greenshank, 2 Jays, 4 Sand Martins, 10 Swallows and a House Martin, 18+ Chiffchaffs, 7 Willow Warblers, 6 Blackcaps, a Whitethroat, 2 Grasshopper Warblers, 4 Sedge Warblers, 7 Ring Ouzels, a Redstart, 5 Stonechats, 4 Wheatears, 4 Yellow Wagtails, 2 Tree Pipits, a Brambling and 3 Redpolls all recorded. Also of interest were 3 Barnacle Geese, 2 Great White Egrets, and a female Merlin.

A Brimstone, 4 Peacocks, 3 Small Tortoiseshells, an Orange Tip and a Green-veined White were recorded, and in the moth traps a female Emperor Moth, Hebrew Character, 3 Small Quakers and an Early Grey were caught.
