ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Monday 8th May 2023

Two Garganey were again at Thornham and on the reserves 2 Black-tailed Godwits and a Common Sandpiper were of note, with a substantial passage of 150+ Swifts during the afternoon, together with 45 Swallows, 25 House Martins, a singing Garden Warbler, 2 Stonechats and 2 Yellow Wagtails all recorded.

In the moth traps there was more activity with 3 Waved Umber, an Eyed Hawk Moth, 2 Shuttle-shaped Darts, a Ruby Tiger, 4 Muslins, a Purple Bar, Northern Drab, Treble Lines, Small Waved Umber, Powdered Quaker, and White Ermine all recorded.
