A beautiful summer day with a strong westerly breeze, highlights today were 5 Golden Plover west over the grazing marshes, 2 Whimbrel, a Common Sandpiper around the Broadwater, 9 Black-tailed Godwits flying east, 2 Greenshank flying west calling, a Great Spotted Woodpecker around the pines, and a juvenile Wheatear along the sea wall near Thornham Harbour.
Moths were in modest numbers today but highlights were a Water Veneer, Silver Y, Garden Tiger and a Black-tipped Ermine. Holly Blue, Painted Lady, Small Skipper, Brown Argus and Wall Brown were among the butterflies recorded on site.
