ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Another day of great weather for migration, with many highlights including a Yellow-browed Warbler in the sycamore in the NWT car park, 360 Brent Geese in Thornham Harbour, 700 Common Scoters, 6 Red-throated Divers, 19 Gannets and a Great Crested Grebe on the sea, a Kingfisher and a Peregrine, 450 Goldcrests in the pines, 4 Swallows still around the Broadwater Hide, 2 Cetti's Warblers, 10 Chiffchaffs, 2 Reed Warblers, 6 Blackcaps, a Ring Ouzel, 20 Blackbirds, 60 Song Thrushes, 250 Redwings, 15 Mistle Thrushes, 170 Robins, 2 Whinchats, 2 Stonechats, 2 Wheatears, 60 Meadow Pipits, 5 Rock Pipits, 8 Bramblings, and 6 Siskins among the many observations.

Ringing was very busy with 182 birds of 17 species including 55 Robins, 51 Goldcrests, 34 Meadow Pipits, 2 Bearded Tits and a Kestrel.
