Another blustery day but at least the sun was shining! Some bird highlights too with a female Velvet Scoter seen off Gore Point, 2 Red-breasted Mergansers, 2 Red-throated Divers, 3 Gannets, 3 Great Crested Grebes, a Razorbill, 2 Sandwich Terns and a Med Gull seen on the sea. A Great Grey Shrike was again on the NWT reserve west of the visitors centre in the dunes, and other sightings of interest included 5 Bearded Tits, a Cetti's Warbler, 2 Blackcaps, a Stonechat, 6 Rock Pipits, a Redpoll, and 2 Siskins.
The obvious highlight from Walsey Hills was a Twite which arrived with Redpolls and was trapped and ringed during the morning. Two Jack Snipe were again seen on Snipe's Marsh, 21 White-fronted Geese were near Pope's Pool to the north, whilst on the reserve Bramblings, Redwings, Song Thrushes and 2 Chiffchaffs were notable. Overhead were 3 Grey Wagtails, 12 Skylarks plus flocks of Starlings, Chaffinches and Redpolls.
