ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Thursday 6th August 2020

On the sea today 270 Common Scoters, a Fulmar, 7 Gannets, 77 Sandwich Terns and 97 Common Terns were counted. 4 Avocets, 13 Golden Plovers, 16 Lapwing, 23 Curlew, 85 Black-tailed Godwits, single Common Sandpiper, 2 Green Sandpipers and a Greenshank were the waders of note. A Green Woodpecker was in the village and a Great White Egret flew west over the grazing marsh.

Moths included 8 Ruby Tigers, 2 Small Waved Umbers, 8 Lesser Broad Bordered Yellow Underwings, 3 Scarce Footmen, 2 Dingy Footmen, 2 Tree-lichen Beauties, 7 Archer's Darts, 7 Drinkers, a Garden Pebble, 12 Flounced Rustics, 29 Shuttle-shaped Darts, 10 Cloaked Minors, 10 Straw Underwings, 3 Garden Tigers, 9 Rustics, a Flame Shoulder, a Lyme Grass, 2 Large Yellow Underwings, a Yellow Tail, a Latticed Heath, a Shaded Broad-bar, 2 Pine Hawks, 2 Nutmegs, 2 Rosy Minors, 2 White-lined Darts, a Spectacle, 6 Turnips, 2 White Points, a Lesser Yellow Underwing, 7 Common Rustics, a Gold Spot, Shore Wainscot, Dark Arches, Common Wainscot, Brown-tail, Mother of Pearl, Silver Y, Setaceous Hebrew Character, Single Dotted Wave and Rosy Footman.
