ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Wednesday 28th October 2020

The Dusky Warbler was still present around the mouth of the Heligoland trap, though the strong wind and presence of two ringed Chiffchaffs (one of which appeared a good candidate for a Siberian) made actually seeing it a frustrating experience ! A sea watch produced counts of 9 Red-throated Divers, 20 Gannets, 13 Great-crested Grebe and 8 Guillemots plus a distant flock of Common Scoter, which numbered at least 450 birds. A flock of 300 Golden Plover were also on the Grazing Marsh and at least seven Twite were present in Thornham Harbour.
