ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Saturday 11th September 2021

Highlights today were 170 Teal, a Pintail, on the sea 19 Common Scoters, 5 Red-throated Divers, 3 Fulmars, 22 Gannets, 7 Great Crested Grebes, 3 Great Skuas, 31 Sandwich Terns, 15 Common Terns, a Peregrine were of note, and 2 Lesser Whitethroats and 2 Whinchats were seen in the dunes, with 2 Wheatears at Gore Point and another on the east bank.
 
Moths today included 3 Green Carpet, a Brimstone, 44 Setaceous Hebrew Character, 4 Willow Beauty, 13 White-line Dart, 6 Common Wainscot, 23 Square-spot Rustic, 3 Snout, 12 Large Yellow Underwing, 3 White-point, 4 Rush Veneer, 3 Common Marbled Carpet, 3 Blood Vein, 4 Silver Y, 19 Vine’s Rustic, 7 Archer’s Dart, Straw Dot, 3 Turnip, 4 Flounced Rustic, Garden Carpet, Fern, 3 Smoky Wainscot, 5 Small Square Spot, Broad Bordered Yellow Underwing, 2 Flame Shoulder, 2 Burnished Brass, Gold Spot, Shuttle-shaped Dart, Lesser Yellow Underwing, 3 Cabbage, Dark Spectacle, Angle Shades, Brown Tail, Yellow Belle and Small Dusty Wave.
