ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Friday 22nd October 2021

On the sea today highlights were 14 Brent Geese, 2 Teal, a drake Eider, drake Goosander, Goldeneye, 40 Common Scoter, 4 Red-throated Divers, 2 Manx Shearwaters, 68 Gannets, 12 Great Crested Grebes, Arctic and Great Skuas, Razorbill, 5 Guillemots, 24 Kittiwakes and a Little Gull. A Little Auk was photographed on the Broadwater mid morning but not relocated, and a drake Goosander dropped onto the northern end late afternoon. Other birds of interest were a Great Spotted Woodpecker, 4 Cetti's Warblers, 5 Rock Pipits and 12 Siskins.

In the moth traps only 4 Large Wainscots and a Feathered Ranunculus were caught. Migrant Hawker and Common Darter were noted and a Red Admiral was also seen.
