ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Monday 11th October 2021

On the sea today 82 Pink-feet, 64 Brents, 81 Common Scoters, a drake Goldeneye, 4 Red-breasted Mergansers, 24 Red-throated Divers, 46 Gannets, 17 Great Crested Grebes, 3 Arctic Skuas, 49 Guillemots, 5 Razorbills and 13 Sandwich Terns were recorded. Other birds of interest were 3 Red Kites, a Spoonbill, 2 Great White Egrets, 2 Water Rails, a Green Sandpiper, Green and Great Spotted Woodpeckers, a Peregrine hunting over the beach towards Thornham, 36 Jays, 4 Swallows, a Yellow-browed Warbler seen in the forestry, 6 Redwings, 2 Stonechats, a Grey Wagtail, 6 Rock Pipits and 45 Siskins.
 
Moths included 6 Large Wainscots, 3 Feathered Ranunculus, 4 Lunar Underwings, Setaceous Hebrew Character, 3 Black Rustics, 4 Beaded Chestnuts, 3 Large Yellow Underwings and a Red-green Carpet.
