ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Monday 25th October 2021

On the sea today 5 Eiders, 24 Common Scoters, 3 Red-breasted Mergansers, 8 Red-throated Divers, 10 Gannets, 18 Great Crested Grebes, a Sandwich Tern, 14 Razorbills and 5 Guillemots were recorded. Also of interest were a Water Rail, Red Kite, Spoonbill, 4 Jays, 9 Bearded Tits near the Car Park Hide, 5 Cetti's Warblers, a Ring Ouzel in off the sea, 25 Blackbirds, single Fieldfare, 2 Song Thrushes, 29 Redwings, 4 Stonechats, 7 Rock Pipits and 9 Siskins.
 
Moths included 4 Large Wainscots, a Large Yellow Underwing, Angle Shades, Black Rustic and Setaceous Hebrew Character. A Red Admiral, Large White and Painted Lady were also still present.
