ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Sunday 24th October 2021

Five Whooper Swans flew west over the marsh and on the sea 7 Eiders, 15 Common Scoters, 2 Red-breasted Mergansers, 8 Red-throated Divers, 7 Gannets, 7 Great Crested Grebes, 3 Razorbills, 4 Guillemots, 1 Sandwich Tern and 1 Common Tern were seen. A Peregrine was hunting the marsh and 3 Red Kites were drifting over, with 190 Lapwings west, 3 Black-tailed Godwits, 10 Snipe, 4 Jays, 18 Skylarks, 14,553 Starlings, 10 Redwings, a Stonechat, 5 Rock Pipits, 120 Bramblings, 70 Chaffinches, 90 Goldfinches and 6 Siskins recorded.

In the moth traps 3 Large Wainscots, a Beaded Chestnut and a Yellow-line Quaker were caught, and a Painted Lady, Red Admiral and a Peacock were of note.
