ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Monday 4th October 2021

On the sea today a passage of Pink-feet were noted with over 2,200 birds passing west into the Wash. Single Common Scoter, Red-breasted Merganser, Razorbill and Guillemot were seen with 2 Red-throated Divers, 55 Gannets, 7 Great Crested Grebes, 27 Auk species a Sandwich and 5 Common Terns recorded. A Merlin was hunting the grazing marsh and a Grey Wagtail and Rock Pipit were also seen.
 
Moths today included 3 Beaded Chestnuts, 4 Setaceous Hebrew Characters, 10 Large Wainscots, Angle Shades, Rosy Rustic, White Point, 3 Feathered Ranunculus, 6 Large Yellow Underwings, Turnip, 4 Lunar Underwings, Vine’s Rustic, Square-spot Rustic and 2 Silver Y.
