ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Sunday 3rd October 2021

On the sea today 2 Arctic Skuas, 20 Sandwich and 5 Common Terns, 130+ Gannets and a Great Crested Grebe were noted. A Red Kite drifted over west, and a Whimbrel, 7 Spoonbills east, a Great White Egret west, a Great Spotted Woodpecker,  5 Swallows and 2 Bullfinches were also of interest.
 
Moths today included 11 Large Wainscot, 9 Large Yellow Underwing, 17 Lunar Underwing, 8 Beaded Chestnut, 14 Setaceous Hebrew Character, 4 Square-spot Rustic, 2 Feathered Ranunculus, Vine’s Rustic, 2 Angle Shades, Black Rustic, Shuttle-shaped Dart, Rusty Dot Pearl and Frosted Orange.
