ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Saturday 2nd October 2021

On the sea today 6 Brent Geese, 24 Wigeon, 33 Teal, 3 Eider, 8 Common Scoter, 1 Red-throated Diver, 6 Great Crested Grebes, 50+ Gannets and 4 Sandwich Terns. At least 380 Pink-footed Geese were recorded, with 4 Pintail, a White-cheeked Pintail (escape), a Greenshank, 2 Snipe, a Cattle Egret was active at the back of the marsh, and other birds of note were 2 House Martins, 6 Stonechats, a Wheatear and a Rock Pipit.

Moths included 6 Large Yellow Underwing, 9 Setaceous Hebrew Characters, 19 Lunar Underwings, 4 Large Wainscots, Common Marbled Carpet, Spruce Carpet, 2 Square-spot Rustics, Mouse Moth, 2 Feathered Ranunculus, 2 Small Square-spot, Rusty-dot Pearl and 3 Beaded Chestnut.
