ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Saturday 9th October 2021

A misty start with blue skies and sunshine and an increasingly easterly breeze. Highlights on the sea were an Eider, 4 Red-breasted Mergansers, 12 Red-throated Divers, 2 Gannets, 4 Great Crested Grebes, 3 Guillemots and 3 Sandwich Terns. Also of interest were 34 Black-tailed Godwits, a Greenshank, Kingfisher, 6 Bearded Tits, 10 Song Thrushes, 12 Redwings, Pied Flycatcher, Whinchat, 3 Stonechats, 3 Grey Wagtails, 2 Rock Pipits, 15+ Bramblings and 10 Siskins flying over.
 
Moths were more modest today with 6 Large Wainscot, a Frosted Orange, 7 Lunar Underwings, 5 Feathered Ranunculus, 4 Beaded Chestnut, a Rusty Dot Pearl, 2 Black Rustic, Mallow, 4 Large Yellow Underwing, Square-spot Rustic and Red-green Carpet caught.
