ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Thursday 24th March 2022

A cracking male Black Redstart was seen through the day near the car parks. There were lots of finches in the pines including 3+ Bramblings, 3 Redpoll sp, and 12+ Siskins. Four Stonechats were also of interest.

In the moth traps 5 Dotted Borders, 9 Hebrew Characters, 3 Shoulder Stripes, 2 Early Thorns, a Clouded Drab, Pine Beauty, Small Quaker, Oak Beauty, 2 Common Quakers and a Red Chestnut were recorded. A Peacock butterfly was also noted.
