ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Friday 25th March 2022

The male Black Redstart was seen again on the NWT reserve west of the Firs, and 12 Chiffchaffs, 6+ Stonechats, 4 Bramblings, 2 Bullfinches, 2 Redpolls and 10 Siskins were also noted.

A female Emperor Moth was found newly hatched near the Observatory and in the traps an Early Thorn, Oak Beauty, 3 Shoulder Stripes, a Dotted Border, 11 Hebrew Characters, 2 Common Quakers, 3 Small Quakers and a Clouded Drab were caught.

Two Peacock butterflies and 2 Small Tortoiseshells were noted and at least 8 Smooth Newts were counted in the pond.
