ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Saturday 16th April 2022

Another fine day with some spring migrants including 3 Ring Ouzels in the dunes, 2 Barnacle Geese on the marsh, 4 Eider, a Fulmar, 3 Sandwich and 1 Common Tern at sea, a Great White Egret, 1 Greenshank, 4 Med Gulls, 2 Swallows west, 5 Chiffchaffs, 4 Willow Warblers, 3 Blackcaps, a Whitethroat, Grasshopper Warbler, Redstart, 4+ Wheatears, 2 Bramblings and 5 Siskins of interest during the day.

In the moth traps 2 Common Quakers, a Nut-tree Tussock, Small Quaker, 4 Muslins, a Powdered Quaker, 2 Hebrew Characters, Red Chestnut, Cochylis atricapitana, Cochylidia implicitana and Agonopterix yeatiana were caught.

Butterflies included Green Hairstreak, Brimstone, Peacock and Small Tortoiseshell.
