ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Monday 2nd May 2022

Highlights today were a Spoonbill, Great White Egret, 3 Little Ringer Plovers, 4 Ruff, 3 Cuckoos, 9 Swallows, 4 House Martins, 12 Chiffchaffs, 5 Blackcaps, 4 Lesser Whitethroats, 4 Whitethroats, 2 Grasshopper Warblers, 9 Sedge and 2 Reed Warblers, 2 Stonechats, 2 Wheatears, 3 Yellow Wagtails and a White Wagtail. On Green Bank 5 Dotterel were showing during the afternoon.

In the moth traps a total of 30 species were recorded including a Fern, Small Waved Umber, Waved Umber, Streamer, Northern Drab, Puple Bar, Sharp-angled Peacock, Red Twin-spot Carpet, Cinnabar, Muslin, Green Carpet, Shoulder Stripe, Knot Grass, Least Black Arches, Treble Lines, Flame Shoulder, Frosted Green, Eyed Hawk, Poplar Hawk, Small Elephant Hawk, Yellow Belle, Silver Y, Flame Shoulder, Nut-tree Tussock and Ruby Tiger. 

Butterflies included Orange Tip, Wall Brown, Small Heath, and Brimstone.
