On the sea today, 1 Fulmar, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Gannet, 45 Little Terns, 57 Sandwich Terns, 7 Common Terns and 3 Kittiwakes were counted. Two Cuckoos were around the reserves and a Barn Owl was hunting, 10 Swallows and 6 House Martins, 4 Whitethroats and 3 Stonechats were also of interest.
In the moth traps 14 Cinnabars, 2 Pine Hawks, 11 White Ermine, 3 Small Elephant Hawks, a Common Marbled Carpet, 2 Poplar Hawks, 4 Mottled Rustics, 3 Treble Lines, 1 Bordered White, 2 Small Square Spot, a Buff Tip, Dog's Tooth, Knot Grass, Green Carpet, Privet Hawk, Shoulder-striped Wainscot, Puss Moth and 2 Vine's Rustics were caught.
Butterflies included Painted Lady, Common and Holly Blue, Wall Brown and Small Heath. Azure, Large Red and Blue-tailed Damselflies were also recorded.
