ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Sunday 29th May 2022

On the sea today 2 Fulmars, a Sooty Shearwater past the NWT, 44 Little Terns, 18 Sandwich Terns and 4 Common Terns were recorded. Other birds of interest were 13 Black-tailed Godwits, a Cuckoo, 25 Swifts, 3 Swallows and 40 House Martins feeding low over the Observatory.

In the moth traps 2 Common Marbled Carpets, 5 Small Elephant Hawks, 8 Cinnabars, 2 Dog's Tooth, 3 Treble Lines, a Flame Shoulder, 2 Small Square Spots, 4 Bordered Whites, 2 Hedge Tortrix, Marbled Minor sp, 3 Mottled Rustics, 6 White Ermine, a Setaceous Hebrew Character, Privet Hawk, Large Yellow Underwing and Pebble Prominent were caught.
