Holme Bird Observatory Wednesday 6th July 2022

Two juvenile Stonechats were hopping around on the chairs right outside the Obs building. 8 Spoonbill were resting and feeding on Broadwater again, best seen from carpark hide. Also 3 Great White Egrets were seen flying by. Sadly no ringing today as it was too windy.

It was a fairly cool night so the moth traps weren't too busy, the most common species was Common Footman with 21 individuals. Also caught were 3 Pine Hawk Moth, 2 Poplar Hawk Moth, 1 Eyed Hawk Moth, 1 Buff Arches, Burnished Brass, 1 White Plume and 3 Rosy Footman amongst others.
