Holme Bird Observatory Thursday 7th July 2022

The morning started with much excitement as I was greeted by a Polecat running down the boardwalk towards me in front of Dell Hide and then it scampered into the bushes!

Mark and Tracy did a good stint in the Sea watching hide this morning with the strong NE wind producing a few good birds including 7 Manx Shearwater, 1 Bonxie and at least 2 Arctic Skuas. In the afternoon a low Hobby chasing dragonflies over the Obs was a nice treat along with a Cuckoo flying west. wind and drizzle this morning prevented any ringing again.

Good variety in the moth traps this morning including a stunning Peach Blossom and Garden Tiger. Lots of butterflies made an appearance in the afternoon once the sun came out with lots of Gatekeepers now on the wing.
