ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Friday 8th July 2022

A group of young Swallows were feeding around the Broadwater and a Reed Warbler and a Lesser Whitethroat were heard, with a Great Spotted Woodpecker noted in the village.

In the moth traps a good catch included 3 Dingy Footmen, 3 Rosy Footmen, 3 Swallowtails, 7 Scarce Footmen, Common Emerald, Dwarf Cream Wave, 25 Common Footmen, Double Square-spot, 2 Yellow Tails, Cinnabar, 4 Riband Wave, 5 Rustic, 4 Smoky Wainscots, Dark Arches, 6 Mottled Rustics, Broght-line Brown-eye, Barred Yellow, 6 Brown-tails, Small Scallop, 4 Uncertain, 2 Drinkers, 2 Ruby Tigers, 4 Single Dotted Waves, a July Highflier, 3 Pine Hawks, a Privet Hawk, Elephant Hawk, Straw Dot, 3 Oak Eggars, Fen Wainscot, Round-winged Muslin, Buff Arches, Burnished Brass, 2 Southern Wainscots, 2 Small Magpies, Garden Tiger, Peppered Moth, Tawny-barred Angle, Heart & Dart, Barred Straw, 2 Kent Black Arches and White-line Dart.
