REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Monday 4th July 2022

On the sea today 3 Fulmars, 4 Gannets, 21 Little Terns, 233 Sandwich Terns and 17 Common Terns were counted with 2 Med Gulls, 2 Black-tailed Godwits, 168 Bar-tailed Godwits, a Greenshank, a Cuckoo, a Hobby, a Cetti's Warbler, 9 Chiffchaffs, 2 Blackcaps, a Grasshopper Warbler and 3 Stonechats also seen.

In the moth traps 2 Poplar Greys, 27 Common Footmen, Peppered Moth, 8 Cinnabars, 6 Scarce Footmen, Yellow Tail, Brown Tail, Ruby Tiger, Rosy Footman, Barred Yellow, Marbled Minor sp, 6 Uncertain, Single Dotted Wave, 3 Clays, 2 Bordered Whites, Light Arches, Buff Ermine, Haworth's Pug, 2 Pine Hawks, 2 Privet Hawks, White Satin Moth, Cloaked Minor, Small Emerald, Least Carpet, Dwarf Cream Wave, Sharp-angled Peacock, 3 Rustic, Brown-line Bright-eye, Kent Black Arches, Large Yellow Underwing, Buff Tip, Pebble Prominent, 3 Mottled Rustics, Flame and Burnished Brass were among the species caught.
