ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Thursday 14th July 2022

Three Spoonbills were on the Broadwater and a Cuckoo was in the dunes, with 2 Bearded Tits noted near the Broadwater Hide and a Cetti’s also calling. The Stonechat family were still around the Observatory, and single Grey and Yellow Wagtails flew over calling. A Common Sandpiper and a Black-tailed Godwit were noted.

Moths today included 4 Oak Eggars, 3 Garden Tigers, 4 Pine Hawks, 11 Ruby Tigers, 7 Least Carpets, a Rosy Footman, 14 Scarce and 22 Common Footmen, a Pale Prominent, Riband Wave, 3 Smoky Wainscots, 5 Single Dotted Waves, 2 White-lined Darts, 12 Rustics, 2 Buff Ermine, 5 Dingy Footmen, 3 Drinkers, 6 Kent Black Arches, Rosy Minor, 4 Uncertain, 2 Brown Tails, 4 Dark Arches, 4 Brown-line Bright Eye, Sharp-angled Peacock, Small Blood-vein, Red Twin-spot Carpet, Buff-tip, Mottled Rustic, Clay, 4 Yellowtails, a Blackneck, Small Fan-footed Wave, Dwarf Cream Wave, Poplar Hawk, Lyme Grass, Knot Grass, Mother of Pearl, Dusky Sallow, Striped Wainscot, Turnip, Common Rustic, Haworth's Pug, Cloaked Minor, Lesser Yellow Underwing, Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing and Sallow Kitten.
