ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Friday 5th August 2022

Seawatching today produced 24 Common Scoter, 6 Fulmars, 4 Gannets, 2 Great Crested Grebes, 42 Little Terns, 201 Sandwich Terns and 44 Common Terns. A good range of waders included 5 Avocets, 5 Golden Plovers, Whimbrel, 15 Black-tailed Godwits, Ruff, Common and 3 Green Sandpipers, Greenshank and a Snipe. Two Green Woodpeckers, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2 Lesser Whitethroats, 15 Swallows, a Cetti's Warbler and 7 Stonechats were recorded.
 
Moths today were 10 Cloaked Minors, 2 Small Waved Umbers, 2 Ferns, 3 Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwings, 3 Single Dotted Waves, 5 Dingy Footmen, 3 Straw Dots, 6 Shuttle-shaped Darts, 2 Flame Shoulders, 8 White-lined Darts, 11 Flouced Rustics, 3 Small Square Spots, 4 Turnips, 3 Sharp-angled Peacocks, 12 Setaceous Hebrew Characters, 5 White Points, 4 Yellow Tails, 4 Scarce Footmen, 6 Garden Tigers, Spectacle, 2 Straw Underwings, 3 Rustics, 4 Archer's Darts, Dark Arches, 2 Nutmegs, Willow Beauty, 3 Garden Pebbles, Large Yellow Underwing, Common Rustic, Gold Spot, Rosy Minor, Brown-line Bright-eye and Yellow Belle.
 
Butterflies included Small Tortoiseshell, Red Admiral, Common Blue, Gatekeeper, Wall, Comma and Speckled Wood.
