ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Saturday 6th August 2022

A total of 14 Spoonbills were on the Broadwater and a Green Sandpiper, Greenshank and 3 Black-tailed Godwits were noted. Green and Great Spotted Woodpeckers, a Hobby, 8 Swallows, 3 House Martins, a Cetti's Warbler, 4 Chiffchaffs, 3 Blackcaps, 10 Whitethroats, Sedge Warbler, 3 Reed Warblers and 4+ Stonechats were counted.

In the moth traps 8 Garden Tigers, 2 Sharp-angled Peacocks, Wormwood Pug, Ruby Tiger, 8 Straw Underwings, 6 Flounced Rustics, Willow Beauty, 4 Shuttle-shaped Darts, 2 Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwings, 3 Turnips, Small Fan-footed Waves, Dark Arches, 8 Setaceous Hebrew Characters, Drinker, 3 Scarce Footmen, 2 Archer's Darts, Small Bloodvein, 2 Saltmarsh Plumes, Shaded Broad-bar, Least Carpet, Small Waved Umber, 6 White-lined Darts, Rustic, Brimstone, 3 Cloaked Minor, Common Wainscot, 6 Flame Shoulders, Common Rustic, 2 Nutmegs, Small Square Spot, Brown-veined Wainscot, Silver Y, Yellow Tail and Humming-bird Hawk Moth were recorded.
