ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Sunday 7th August 2022

A Peregrine was hunting and around the Broadwater and NWT hides 40 Lapwings, 24 Black-tailed Godwits, 3 Green Sandpipers, a Wood Sandpiper, 89 Redshank, a Snipe and 3 Spoonbills were of interest. At sea 6 Common Scoter, 3 Fulmars, 23 Gannets, 4 Little Terns, 58 Sandwich Terns and 12 Common Terns were seen. A young Tawny Owl was calling in the pines and 10 Swallows, 3 House Martins, a Cetti's Warbler, 3 Chiffchaffs, a Blackcap, 3 Whitethroats and 3 Reed Warblers were of interest. 
 
Moths today included 8 Garden Tigers, 5 Setaceous Hebrew Characters, 3 Common Rustics, 13 Flounced Rustics, 9 Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Unberwings, Vine's Rustic, Single Dotted Wave, 2 Straw Underwings, 2 Archer's Darts, Sharp-angled Peacock, 3 Flame Shoulders, 6 White-lined Darts, Large Yellow Underwing, Smoky Wainscot, Yellow Tail, Shaded Broad-bar, Yellow Shell, 2 Cloaked Minors, 2 Shuttle-shaped Darts, Saltmarsh Plume, Dark Sword-grass, Dark Arches, Turnip, Nutmeg, Angle-barred Pug, Double-striped Pug, Yellow Shell, Humming-bird Hawk Moth and Silver Y.
