ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Monday 8th August 2022

A hot sunny day with light easterlies, highlights were 6 summer Plumage Golden Plover, 25+ Black-tailed Godwits, 2 Green Sandpipers, 2 Green and 2 Great Spotted Woodpeckers, 10 House Martins, 2 Lesser Whitethroats and a Yellow Wagtail over calling.
 
Moths today included Fern, Garden Tiger, 5 Sharp-angled Peacock, Green Carpet, 4 Straw Dot, 8 Lesser Broad Bordered Yellow Underwings, 17 Flounced Rustics, Common Rustic, 2 Small Fan-footed Waves, Dark Arches, Pinion-streaked Snout, 5 Shuttle-shaped Darts, 8 Setaceous Hebrew Characters, 12 White-lined Darts, Nutmeg, Angle Shades, 5 Archer's Darts, Sallow Kitten, Gold Swift, 2 Straw Underwings, Rosy Minor, Small Square Spot, Rustic, 3 Flame Shoulders, 2 Cloaked Minors, Yellow Tail, Lychnis, Pebble Prominent, Scarce Footman, Lime-speck Pug and Gold Swift. A Painted Lady was on the buddleia.
