ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Tuesday 9th August 2022

 

A busy mornings ringing thanks to Roger for opening the nets early, 37 new birds of 12 species. The highest catch being Reed Warblers 11 followed by Whitethroat 5. We also caught another Kestrel and young Stonechat. Wood Sandpiper still viewable from carpark hide plus 4 Green Sandpipers and 1 Common Sandpiper. 4 Yellow Wagtails over in the morning and 2 seen following cows in the afternoon.

Moths were fairly quiet after a chilly night; 23 Flounced Rustic, 5 Garden Tiger, 1 Silky Wainscot, 8 Lesser Broad Bordered Underwing amongst the catch.
