ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Monday 1st August 2022

A total of 9 Spoonbills were on the Broadwater, a Whimbrel and a Yellow Wagtail flew over calling, and a Green Woodpecker was feeding on the lawn in front of the Obs throughout the day. A family of Stonechats were still on the east bank.
 
Moths today were 8 Scarce Footmen, 3 Sharp-angled Peacocks, Latticed Heath, 2 Shuttle-shaped Darts, 12 Straw Dots, 13 Garden Tigers, 11 Dingy Footmen, 3 Small Fan-footed Waves, 4 Cloaked Minors, 2 Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwings, 3 Large Yellow Underwings, 3 Garden Pebbles, 3 Small Waved Umbers, 2 Broad-bordered Yellow Underwings, 2 White Points, 6 Rustics, 5 Turnips, 6 Setaceous Hebrew Characters, 2 Dark Arches, 3 Flame Shoulders, 2 Common Rustic, 2 Yellow Tail, Poplar Hawk Moth, Lesser Yellow Underwing, Southern Wainscot, 3 Single Dotted Waves, Straw Underwing, Willow Beauty, White-lined Dart, Shaded Broad-bar, 2 Cabbage, Smoky Wainscot, 2 Ear Agg, 3 Drinker and Coxcomb Prominent.
 
Butterflies included Red Admiral, Gatekeeper, Meadow Brown and Brown Argus.
 
6 Migrant Hawkers were around the pond.
